Stolen.

John H. Caton and Thomas Greig are suspected of stealing two colts from Peter Carr’s run, about the month of January last, the property of Messrs. Lambert and Field, of Avonside, Christchurch. First, a dark bay light draught gelding, unbroken, two years and-a-hall old, black points, long body and legs, fawn colored about the nose, branded *P on oft side neck.

Second, a light draught chesnut gelding, unbroken, two years and-a-half old, white mark down face, legs and tail much lighter color than the body, unbroken.

Two colts answering those stolen were seen in Caton’s paddock about a week previous to their starting for Dunedin, about the Ist July last, when Caton was observed dressing the tails of these animals. They have since been recovered.

Stolen, during the night of the 12th instant, from the Government wharf at Lyttelton, the property of Messrs. Holmes & Co., 13 cast-metal railway chairs, about 14 inches long, having a bolt hole at each end, and a groove in the centre for the rail; maker’s name (Hawden) in raised letters probably taken by some boatmen, for ballast. Identifiable.—l6th October 1863.
