Escaped from the custody of the Warders, Lyttelton Gaol, at 10 a.m., on the 30th June, 1863, while working in the hard labour gang, William Gamble, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches, sallow complexion, black hair worn long, small black whiskers, no moustache Avhen last seen, dark eyes, stout muscular build, nose flat at end, rolling gait when walking, speaks with North of Ireland Accent, very fond of singing a song called “ Highland Mary.” Was last seen in Wellington, by the Police, in a lodging-house, from which he escaped.
