Acquired : Unoccupied Crown land and minor acquisitions between 1933 and 1949. Objective: Probably one dairy and sheep unit 1951 and one sheep unit 1953. Development Programme : Present programme includes 15 chains drains, 15 chains widening and deepening, 17 acres clearing, 55 acres new grassing, general pasture renovation, 229 chains fencing, 80 chains renewing of fences, 200 chains fencing repairs, extensions to water-supply, 20 chains internal access, and three stock crossings. Progress : 15 chains drain widened and deepened, 54 acres grassing completed, cultivation complete, 15 chains fences erected and 80 chains repaired, water-supply installed, 20 chains internal access constructed, and stock crossings completed. Raetihi, at Raetihi, balance of area, 1,768 acres. Acquired : Reverted leases and acquisitions set aside for development between 1936 and 1941. Objective : Seven sheep farms—five for allotment July, 1949, and two for allotment July, 1951. Development Programme : 117 acres clearing, 51 acres cultivation, 131 acres grassing, 500 chains fencing, 100 chains repairs to fencing, three dwellings, one wool-shed, four store and implement-sheds, renovations to four dwellings, three water-supplies, 28 chains access roading, sheep-dip, and cattle-yards. Progress: 117 acres cleared. Cultivation programme carried out —131 acres grassed. All fencing completed. One dwelling built, others commenced. Three store and implement sheds built, renovations completed. Water-supplies under construction. 28 chains access road finished. Access roading has delayed building construction. Rangarangai, at Taumarunui, balance of area, 1,547 acres. Acquired : Amalgamation of six properties acquired between April, 1946, and February, 1950. Objective: Three sheep-farms for allotment 1952. Development Programme : At present under review due to recent acquisition of an additional area of 768 acres. The past year's programme included 12 chains deepening and widening drains, 130 acres clearing, 47 acres cultivation, 115 acres grassing, 45 chains fencing, 120 chains renewing of fencing, 60 chains repairs to fencing, 30 chains internal access, seven culverts and one watersupply, one house, one implement-shed, one set sheep-yards. Progress : 60 acres cleared and all cultivation carried out, 80 acres grassed, 45 chains of new fences erected, 30 chains of access tracks and seven culverts completed, one house, one implement-shed., Rumbles', at Pukeatua, 379 acres. Acquired : May, 1936. 257 acres allotted as one mixed unit September, 1948. Balance of area, 122 acres, unsuitable for inclusion in area settled, was taken over by Maori Affairs Department for incorporation in the Mamakumara Development Scheme. Ruru, at Cambridge, 607 acres. Acquired : January, 1950. Objective : One sheep unit, allotment indefinite. Development Programme : Crown land recently made available for settlement and development proposals not yet finalized. Tahaia, at Otorohanga, 770 acres, of which 556 acres is unimproved Crown land on which immediate development is not anticipated. Acquired : Crown land, reverted lease, and Maori lands taken over between 1938 and 1947. Objective: Two dairy-farms—one for allotment July, 1951, and one for allotment 1952. 59 acres for allotment to adjoining owner.
