SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES, 1945-46

STAMP DUTIES DEPARTMENT

(a) This is a grant of death duties properly paid and for the remission of which there is no provision in the Death Duties Act, 1921. Grant made on grounds of undue hardship. (b) This is a special grant to be made to the New Zealand Methodist Foreign Mission Society as rebate of succession duty on legacy in estate of Samuel Gorman, deceased, and to provide part compensation for mission property in the Solomon Islands destroyed during the war, the estimated cost of replacement being £90,000. (c) This is a grant of death duties properly paid and for the remission of which there is no provision in the Death Duties Act, 1921. (d) Additional expenditure necessary on account of removal of Christchurch District Office from Government Buildings to other premises. £350 provided on main estimates. (e) Investigation mado in England by Mr. P. G. Pearce, late Commissioner of Stamp Duties. (/) Document was not liable to stamp duty. (g) Pound-for-pound subsidy on net profits paid to the National Patriotic Fund Board. £40,000 provided on main estimates. (A) Increase due to removal of Christchurch District Office from the Government Buildings to other premises. £3,100 provided on main estimates.
