Medical and Public Health. The health of the Natives has been good, and medical services have continued to be satisfactory. The house-to-house inspection in all villages was carried out during the year with satisfactory results. A dental survey of Niue was made by the Dental Officer attached to the Samoan Administration, and two Niuean youths are now undergoing training in the dental clinic at Apia. A student has also been sent to the Central Medical School at Suva, Fiji, for training as a Native medical practitioner. Education. The work of this Department was carried on satisfactorily during the period under review. The average roll strength of the three Administration schools was 564, and of the London Missionary Society's nine schools 425. Public Works and Transport. These services were adequately maintained throughout the year. Eight village concrete cisterns or tanks have been built, but serious damage was done to the water-supplies by the storm in March. High Coukt and Native Land Court. The following cases were dealt with during the period under review : High Court, 1,483 ; civil Court, 16 ; Juvenile Court, 9 ; and Native Land Court, 23. No serious offences occurred. Island Council. During the year the term of office of sitting Councillors expired, and a new Council was formed. Of the ; thirteen members, eight sat in the previous Council. Wireless. During the year 313 messages, containing 5,386 words, were received, and 359, containing 6,455 words, were despatched. Meteorological. The total rainfall for the year was 51-81 in. During the storm in March the barometer dropped to 28-443 in.
