No. 7. —Petition of Ida McGregor, of 31 Rimu Street, New Plymouth. Praying for payment of the full compassionate grant awarded to her in consideration of the death of her husband. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 24th July, 1941.

No. 14. —Petition of Kathleen Pettit, 7 Hadfield Terrace, Kelburn, Wellington. Praying for a compassionate allowance in consideration of her late husband's services as a Government employee. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 24th July, 1941.

No. 64/1940. —Petition of W. S. Wilson, of Wellington. Praying for the removal of the cattle-yards at Johnsonville and for the incorporation of that district in Greater Wellington. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 31st July, 1941.

No. 85/1940. —Petition of R. Tregoning, of Seddon, Farmer. Praying that certain farm lands be exempted from the payment of special rates pursuant to the Water-supply Act, 1908. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 31st July, 1941.

No. 9. —Petition of Violette G. Masters, of Wellington S. 1. Praying for a compassionate grant in respect of the death of her husband, allegedly arising out of his services with the Railways Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 7th August, 1941.

No. 11.—Petition of J. Worthington, 153 Great South Road, One Tree Hill, Auckland S.E. 4. Praying for the hearing of his appeal for regrading before the Railways Appeal Board. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 7th August, 1941.

No. 19. —Petition of G. 11. Russell, 60 Miramar Avenue, Miramar. Praying for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the alleged loss of his capital. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 14th August, 1941.

No. 26. —Petition of T. P. Simpson, 94 Oban Street, Wadestown, Wellington. Praying for an investigation of his plan to terminate the war. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 14th August, 1941.

Praying that they be relieved of their liability for payment of certain death duties in respect of the estate of James Walker (deceased).
