AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL COMMITTEE (REPORTS OF THE). (Mr. B. ROBERTS, Chairman.)

ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 11th Day of July, 1940. Ordered, "That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries and stock which may be referred to it, with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report: * the Committee to consist of Mr. Barclay, Mr. Boswell, Mr. Burnett, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Kyle, Mr. McCombs, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Williams, and the Mover."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser, for Hon. Mr. Lee Martin.) Ordered, " That during the present session all Select Committees appointed by the House have leave to sit on days on which the House is not sitting, provided that when it is proposed to sit on any such day at least three days' notice shall be given to each member of the Committee of the date of the sitting."—(Right Hon. Mr. Eraser.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1939 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.)

REPORTS. No. 135/1937.— Petition of L. A. Read, of Auckland. Praying for compensation for loss allegedly sustained in connection with the establishment of a casein-factory at Port Albert. I have the honour to report that the member presenting the petition having requested permission to withdraw it, the Committee recommends that he be allowed to do so. sth December, 1940. B. Roberts, Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its hearty appreciation of the services of its Chairman, Mr. Roberts, and has directed that a resolution to this effect be placed upon the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. sth December, 1940. T. D. Burnett, Member of the Committee.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. E. B. Harman, and, further, desires this resolution to be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. sth December, 1940. B. Roberts, Chairman.
