No. 242/1934,—Petition of E. S. Taylor, Electrical Mechanic, Ngakawau, via Westport. Praying for amendment of the Workers' Compensation Act, 1922, as will enable him to now apply for compensation on account of injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment. I have the honour to report that the member in charge of the petition having expressed a desire to withdraw same, the Committee recommends that he be allowed to do so. 2nd December, 1937.

No. 137.—Petition of A. Shaw, of New Lynn. Praying lor relief in respect of loss allegedly sustained through difficulty in interpretation of section 4 of the Valuation of Land Amendment Act, 1933. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, with a view to the recovery of the legal expenses incurred by him in the Supreme Court action taken to obtain a judicial interpretation of the said section 4. 9th March, 1938.

No. 129. —Petition of P. J. O'Shea. Praying that a compassionate allowance equivalent to the old-age pension be granted to J. O'Connor. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 9th March, 1938.

No. 126. —Petition of W. D. Taylor and Another. Praying for remission of portion of the death duties assessed in respect of the estate of the late Thomas Saunders, and also the remission of the interest charged thereon. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, with a view to an investigation as to the amount of hardship involved. 11th March, 1938.

No. 113. —Petition of Marcellina Nolan, of Invercargill. Praying for compensation on account of the death of her husband while in the employ of the Railways Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 15th March, 1938.
