ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 16th Day op April, 1936. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to examine into and report upon such questions relating to the public accounts as may be referred to it by the House or the Government, and also into all matters relating to the finances of the Dominion which the Government may refer to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Barnes, Mr. Broadfoot, the Right Hon. Mr. Coates, Mr. Holyoake, Mr. Howard, Mr. Lee, Mr. McCombs, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Wilkinson, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Nash.)

REPORTS.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee wish to express its satisfaction with the services rendered by Mr. L. C. Dawe as Clerk of the Committee, and, further, that this resolution be reported to the House. E. J. Howard, Chairman. 26th October, 1936.

Special Report. 1 have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. E. J. Howard as Chairman of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House. T. H. McCombs, a Member of the Committee. 26th October, 1936.

a Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee, consisting of ten members, has during the session held twelve meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. The estimates of expenditure for the financial year ending 31st March, 1937, were referred to the Committee by the Government for consideration. In all, seventy-four officers of State were summoned before and examined by the Committee on the votes of their respective Departments. Ten resolutions on the various items of the estimates were agreed to by the Committee and referred to the Hon. the Minister of Finance for consideration. E. J. Howard, Chairman. 26th October, 1936.
