No. 71/1931. —Petition of Tame H. Rehe and 56 Others, of the Chatham Islands. Praying that legislation be passed in respect of Rangitutahi and other islands. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in regard to this petition. 2nd April, 1935.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on 2nd April. The Committee, consisting of fifteen members, held twenty-six meetings during the session, the average attendance at each meeting being seven. . Including twenty-four petitions brought" forward from 1933, the Committee had before it sixty-seven petitions. Forty-one were reported on, and twenty-six are held over Parliamentary Papers Nos. 87, 88, 121, 124, 196, 197, and 204 were considered and reported on. The Native Purposes Bill, the Board of Native Affairs Bill, and the Maori Purposes Fund Bill were duly considered and reported on. „ , . Cecil H. Clinkard, Chairman. 2nd April, 1935.

I HAVE the honour to report that at a meeting of the Native Affairs Committee held on Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1935, the following resolution was unanimously carried- " That the Committee desires to place on record its high appreciation of the efficient and courteous manner in which the Chairman, Mr. Clinkard, has conducted the business of the Committee, and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes, and reported to the House."
