The gross exp< nditure to the" 31st March, 1933, was £13,948, reduced by receipts to £11,366. The receipts comprised: ( l ieam, £1,966; live-stock, £243; unemployment subsidies, £155, and other receipts, £218. The following paragraph from a report of the Supervisor, Mr. Hoeroa Marumaru, may be quoted: " The Scheme is no doubt one of the most beneficial movements ever inaugurated for the good of the Maoris on the Whanganui Biver. They have the land and the man-power and sufficient foresight to realize that the settlement of their lands is the only avenue with sufficient scope to meet the needs of the majority of them. It has given them a new hope. The young men are uniting with their elders in an effort to make good. " F " —IKAROA MAORI LAND DISTRICT. The Schemes in this district are organized in two areas : 1, Heretaunga ; and 2, Manawatu. 1. Heretaunga. The receipts, which consisted of sales of cream, £354 ; of live-stock, £265'; and other farm produce and receipts, £507 : total, £1,126, reduced the net expenditure to £1,679. 2. Manawatu. This Scheme covered five holdings in the Manawatu District (occupied by five families), and the Matakarapa Block, near Feilding. , The gross expenditure to the 31st March, 1933, was £2,236, reduced by receipts Sales of cream, £26; unemployment subsidies, i 242 ; and other receipts, £415 : total, £683 to £1,553.
