No. 218. —Petition of G. Leckie, of Napier. Praying for compensation for an injury received whilst employed by the Public Works Department at Waikaremoana. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. Bth October, 1930.

No. 222. —Petition of D. H. Brown and Son, Ltd., of Christchurch. Praying for refund of duty on motor-spirit destroyed by fire. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 14th October, 1930.

No. 224. —Petition of H. F. Blatch and 372 Others, of Southland. Praying for relief for non-reticulated ratepayers of Southland Electric-power Board area. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 14th October, 1930.

No. 234.—Petition of M. J. Cartwright, of Marlborough. Praying for inquiry into her alleged wrongful dismissal from the Maori Hygiene Board. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 22nd October, 1930.

No. 236.—Petitions of John Leslie Collins, of Takapuna. Praying for refund of £200 purchase-money paid for a section in the Parish of Takapuna. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration ; and the Committee further recommends that the sum of £200 be paid to the petitioner out of the accumulated war pension due to John Leslie Collins (mental patient). 22nd October, 1930.

Special Report. The Committee desires to express its appreciation of the capable and efficient service performed by the Clerk, Mr. E. B. Harman, in all branches of his work throughout the session, and it is the wish of the Committee that this resolution shall be recorded in the minutes and be reported to the House. 16th October, 1930.

Special Report. The Committee desires to place on record its high appreciation of the capable and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. J. A. Macpherson, has presided over its deliberations during the session ; and t-he Committee further desires that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House.
