I am directed to report that, as a matter of policy is involved, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th September, 1928.

No. 35. —Petition of W. E. Martin and 63 Others, of Auckland. Praying for alteration of the law as to rating in town districts. I am directed to report that, as legislation dealing with the subject-matter of the petition is now pending, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th September, 1928.

No. 150.—Petition of P. J. O'Regan, of Wellington. Praying for the introduction of legislation in connection with the rights of passengers against shipowners and other transport proprietors in respect of injuries by accident resulting from negligence of the shipowner or other defendant. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, with a view to concerted action being taken with the Imperial Government. 19th September, 1928.

No. 221.—-Petition of Sydney Tovey, of Wellington. Praying for compensation for alleged, neglect of medical treatment after injury received on a troopship. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th September, 1928.

No. 219. —Petition of E. L. Macassey and 197 Others. Praying that amateur boxing be given statutory recognition, and for the amendment of the Police Offences Act. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 25th September, 1928.

No. 237. —Petition of A. R. Young, of Lower Hutt. Praying that his service in the Agriculture Department be declared continuous, and for increased superannuation. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 25th September, 1928.
