No. .13. -Petition of C. de Verb Tesohemaker-Shute, of Avondale, Marlborough. Praying that the Government will resume the issue and control of priced catalogues by the woolbrokers. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 23rd October, 1919. No. 124. —Petition of Donald Kerr, of Wellington. ' Prating for payment of salary for services rendered to the Agricultural Department. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 23rd October, 1919. No. 222.—Petition of C. 0. M. Oluvier, of Christchurch. PRAYING that the allegations made that Sims, Cooper, and Co. (Limited) have been or are now associated with the American meat trust should be investigated by a Committee of the House. I am directed, to report that in the opinion of the Committee Dr. Reakes in his evidence before the Meat-export Trade Committee acted in good faith and in the public interest; and, further, the Committee had no evidence to connect Messrs. Sims, Cooper, and Co. (Limited) with the American meat trust, but, on the contrary, the evidence adduced showed that the company is in no way connected with the trust. This view is borne out by the finding of the Meat-export Trade Committee in 1917. 4th November, 1919. No. 124. —Petition of Donald Kerr, of Wellington. Prayinu for payment of salary for services rendered to the Agricultural Department. I am directed to report that, the report having been referred back to the Committee for further consideration, they have no recommendation to make. 4th November, 1919. Special Report. 1 have the honour to report that the above Gommittee desires to place on record its great appreciation of the ability, tact, and courtesy with which the Chairman (Mr. G. Hunter) has conducted the business of the Committee during the past session. 4th November, 1919. Pinal Report. lam directed to report that the Committee held eight meetings during the session. The Committee dealt with thirty-six petitions. The results were as follows : One, no recommendation ; one, consideration ; one, favourable report; thirty-three, favourable consideration. The Committee also dealt with Paper No. 142, H. -29b, Nauru and other phosphate islands in the Pacific, also terms of agreement therewith, and recommended same to the House for the members' ratification. 4th November, 1919.
