No. 26 of Session 11, 1918.—Petition of G. M. BuRLiNSON, of Wellington. Praying for an amendment of the law to enable him to receive superannuation on an equitable basis, or an equivalent in money. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends the Government either to pay the superannuation, based on the full amount of the salary and allowances received by petitioner — viz., £420—with the proviso that the higher scale of contributions payable for the higher superannuation amount be deducted, or grant such lump sum as will be an equivalent. The Committee is of opinion this case discloses the fact that as regards the present superannuation scheme, in cases where the remuneration is partly cash and partly house and other allowances, an amendment of the law, which should be retrospective, is necessary, and recommends, the petition to the Government for favourable consideration. 6th December, 1918.
