I have the honour to submit herewith the report upon drainage operations in the Rangitaiki Plains for the year ended 31st March, 1!)16, pursuant to the provisions of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910. The report of the Chief Drainage Engineer (Mr. J. 15. Thompson) gives details regarding the .successful progress of the operations carried on under his supervision and the personal direction of the Land Drainage Engineer (Mr. 0. N. Campbell), ft is very gratifying to note that the settlement of the district is continually mi the upgrade, and the increasing productiveness of the Rangitaiki Plains is a natural corollary to the success of the drains and river-diversion.
