Report on the Estimates of Expenditure out of the Consolidated Fund for the Year ending 31st March, 1913. The Public Accounts Committee, to whom were referred the estimates of expenditure out of the Consolidated Fund for the year ending 31st March, 1913, have the honour to report that they have carefully considered the following classes, and recommend that they be allowed to proceed : — Class XI. Customs, Marine and Harbours, and Inspection of Machinery Departments. ~ XII. Department of Labour. ~ XIII. Department of Lands and Survey. ~ XIV. Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce. ~ XV. Education Department. State Forests Account. Land for Settlements Account. Scenery Preservation Account. Government Insurance Account. State Fire Insurance Account. Government Accident Insurance Account. The Committee have directed me to report the following resolutions :— 1. That the Government be recommended to supply a more detailed account with regard to the items of the Scenery Preservation Account. 2. That the Government be recommended to lay before the House a return showing the total expenditure on the Township of Runanga. 3. That the Government be recommended to lay before the House a return showing the details of the total expenditure incurred by the Dominion on the Roubaix Exhibition, France. 4. That the Government be recommended to lay before the House a return showing the details of the total expenditure incurred by the Dominion regarding Trade Representatives and Oversea Agents, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce. 5. The Committee recommend that the Minister be asked to present to the House a statement showing full details in connection with the purchase and fencing of Runanga No. Ia Block (Lands and Survey Department, Miscellaneous Services, £650). 6. That it be a recommendation to the Government to lay before the House a return showing the expenditure year by year on the subsidized Wanganui-Pipiriki steamer service since its establishment. 7. That the Committee lecommend the Minister of Marine to look into the item, "Acetone light for Bean Rock, £320 (Marine and Harbours)," before payment. The Committee beg to state that they have now completed the consideration of the estimates. 23rd August, 1912. J. B. Hine, Chairman.
