Mortality. The following statement of average mortality experienced for the year is given herewith, but it takes no account of age incidence : —

Sick and Funeeal Funds. The contributions and entrance fees paid to Sick and Funeral Funds in 1911 amounted to £104,671. Divided by the mean number of members the average was £1 9s. Bd., as against £1 9s. lid. for 1910. The interest and rent received by the lodges and central bodies amounted to £59,599 in 1911, equal to 16s. lid. per member, as against 17s. for 1910. The amount of sickness benefit paid was £70,015 in 1911, equal to £6 os. Bd. per member sick, and 19s. 10d. per member, as against £5 17s. 7d. and £1 Cs. 10d. respectively for 1910. Viewing the amount paid in relation to the weeks of sickness, the average benefit per week is found to be 13s. 10d. in 1911, as compared with 14s. 3d. in 1910. The funeral benefit paid amounted to £13.825 in 1911, equal to 3s. lid. per member, as compared with 4s. 4d. for 1910. The total worth of the Sick and Funeral Funds at the beginning of 1911 of 658 lodges was £1,204,777, and at the end of the year £1,285,032, as compared with 609 lodges, worth £1,151,724 and £1,221,372, at the beginning and end of 1910. The balance of gain 'or the year was £80,255, or £1 2s. 9d. per member in 1911, as compared with £69,648, or £1 os. 10d., in 1910. The averages for the five leading orders and for all societies are given in the following table for the year 1911 : —

Investment of Funds. The net income from investments credited to the Sick and Funeral Funds for 1911 amounted to £59,599, the average rate being 4-90 per cent, (say, £4 18s. Id.), as against £4 18s. in 1910.
