Premises. Although the work and staff of the Office have about doubled the last ten years, there has been no increase in the accommodation during that time, and either fresh premises or a substantial addition to the present offices are urgently required. The applications and revenue for the first six months of the current year are higher by 17 per cent, and 14 per cent, respectively than for the corresponding period of 1909, which showed a substantial advance on the preceding year. As there seems every prospect of the development of the Office being maintained, it is desirable that premises not only giving the further accommodation now required, but permitting of the expansion of the Office for some years to come, should be provided. The necessity for more strong-room cannot be too strongly emphasized, the present safe having space for only a portion of the documents which should be guarded against destruction by fire.
