SETTLEMENT ON CROWN LANDS: RETURNS RELATIVE TO LANDS OPENED AND LANDS APPLIED FOR, FROM 1905-6 TO 1909-10.

Return to an Order of Die House of Rejrresentatives dated tlie 31st August, 1910. Ordered, "That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The number of sections of land, either Crown land or lands for settlement, opened during the periods of twelve months ended 31st March, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1909, and 1910 ; (2) the total number of applicants who applied for land during each of the before-mentioned periods ; and (3) the number of successful applioants."—(Mr. Fisher.)

Return showing the Number of Sections of Land, either Crown Land or Lands for Settlement, opened up, the Number of Applicants who applied for Land, and the Number of Successful Applicants, during the Years ended 31st March, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1909, and 1910.

Note. —The above return is confined to lauds dealt with under settlement conditions only. Lands offered for sale by public auction, as pastoral runs, and miscellaneous leases, &c, have not been included. Wm. C. Kensington, Under-Secretary.
