I, the undersigned Analyst, have the honour to forward you, under separate cover, returns of the 174 analyses made by me during the year ending on the 31st March, 1907. In connection with the work I wish to respectfully draw your attention to the fact that, owing to there being no properly equipped laboratory available for me to do the work in, I have to make the analyses under very inconvenient conditions, and at considerable expense to myself for gas, chemicals, apparatus, telephone, &c. Therefore, I thought that perhaps the Department might take over the laboratory at present used by the School of Mines at the Exhibition, and allow me to use it as the Government Laboratory for Canterbury.
