A portion of the old building will do very well for the chronic and aged cases, until such time as the West Coast authorities face the situation with regard to the aged poor and establish a central Old Men's Home. I quite agree with my predecessor that the above and the Grey River Hospital should be regarded as the chief hospitals of the West Coast, and be fully furnished and equipped accordingly. Of 27 patients when I visited this Hospital 13 were old men. WHANGAEEI HOSPITAL.
