Appeal No. 186. —By Te Whaiti Paora and others. This appeal was withdrawn by the appellants, there being no objectors. We recommend that it be dismissed. The seven persons whose names are hereunder set out are the persons who have been selected by the owners of the land from amongst their number and proposed by them as the members of the'Hapu Committee for this block, and agreed to by all the owners present before this Commission sitting at Te Whaiti on the 22nd day of March, 1907: — 1. Te Whaiti-nui-a-Toi Block. During the inquiry into the nineteen appeals regarding this block, where several appeals had been lodged by different persons of the same tribe or hapu, such appeals were amalgamated as far as possible and heard as one general combined case. There were, however, a few of these appeals heard by us as separate cases standing by themselves. Appeals Nos. I£s and I£6. —By Hohepa Poia and others. Appeal No. 155. —By Parakiri Rawiri and others. Appeal No. 157. —By Te Whaiti Paora and others. Appeal No. .762.—8y Harehare Aterea and others. These are all Ngati Manawa appeals, and were conducted as one general combined case under the grounds of claim advanced by their witnesses before this Commission. This was the first case dealt with, and refers to the whole block and the portions of its boundaries which are in dispute, the evidence and proceedings taken being contained in the minutes of this Commission. Appeal No. 152. —By Hori Wharerangi and others. Was the second case taken, claiming a large portion of this block on behalf of the Ngati Marakoko Hapu, within defined boundaries stated by Hori Wharerangi. All the evidence given in this case is also contained in the minutes of this Commission. Appeal No. 150. —By Hori Kaperiere and others. Appeals Nos. 158 and 15£. —By Taniko Iharaira and others. Appeal No. 160. —8y Tamati Waaka and others. Appeal No. 161. —By Hiwawa Whatanui and others. These are all Ngati Whare appeals, claiming the whole of the Te Whaiti Block, and the boundaries in dispute, and were heard by us as one combined case, this being the third case taken; all the evidence and proceedings taken being contained in the minutes of this Commission. Appeals Nos. I£B and Hβ. —By Himiona Tikitu and others. Appeal No. 156. —8y Te Haroto Manuera and others. These three appeals were combined, and conducted by Himiona Tikitu on behalf of his hapu Ngamaihi, comprising nineteen persons, whose names are set out in the list submitted by him to this Commission, and whom he admits have never occupied this land; the evidence and proceedings in this case being contained in the minutes of this Commission. Appeal No. H^. —By Hokotahi te Puehu and others. Appeal No. lip'. —By Aterea Ngahere and others. Appeal No. 151. —8y Te Aranui Himiona and others. Appeal No. 158. —8y Te Kauru te Kanapu and others. These four appeals are all lodged by members of the Tuhoe Tribe and its hapus, and were heard as one combined case, claiming the whole block under the " mana " of Tuhoe, alleged to have been acquired by them through their conquest over Ngati .Pukeko; the evidence and proceedings taken in this case also being contained in the minutes of this Commission.
