Opunakb Domain. (Blocks I, IV, V, VI, VIII, and Sections Nos. ] to 6 of Block 11, Town of Opunake and the Opunake Town Belt. Area, 35 acres 2 roods 3 perches. Work done during year : Three hundred cabbage-trees planted, also pampas, and 40 chains flax for breakwind, grass cut, plantations and hedges cleaned, and grandstand erected. Improvements now on domain: Grandstand, including luncheon, ladies' and other rooms; boundaryfences, another fence (enclosing plantations) 1 chain inside boundary-fences, gates, box-thorn hedges, 60 chains drains, and an inner circular fence enclosing sports-ground. Used for Caledonian sports, cricket, football, and picnics. Proposed operations for ensuing year: Cleaning trees and hedges, fencing in grandstand, tree-planting, and cleaning drains. Patba Domain. Blocks XLIV and XLV, Town of Patea. Area, 65 acres 2 roods 25 perches. Work done during year: New gate erected, path formed, fences erected, ornamental and native trees planted, and general maintenance. Improvements now on domain : Boundary and subdivisional fences, tennis-courts, grandstand, pavilion, toolhouse, flower-garden, nursery, pathways, gates, turnstiles, tank, well, and plantations. Used for tennis, cricket, hockey, football, athletic sports, Volunteer encampments, and picnics. Proposed operations for ensuing year: General maintenance, and repairs. Pihama Domain. Section No. 48, Block I, Oeo Survey District. Area, 14 acres 2 roods. Used for bowls and tennis. Improvements now on domain: Sixty-six chains and a half fences, including 42 J chains ditch-and-bank fence planted with box-thorn. Proposed operations for ensuing year : General maintenance. Pungarehu Domain. Section No. 111, Block XII, Cape Survey District. Area, 10 acres. Work done during year: Fences erected and trees planted. Improvements now on domain : Boundary-fences and trees. Used for cricket, sports, and picnics. Proposed operations for ensuing year; Tree-planting, forming cricket-ground, grass-sowing, and general maintenance. Ptjrangi Domain. Section No. 2, Block 11, Ngatimaru Survey District. Area, 10 acres. Work done during year: Improvement to road of access. Improvements now on domain : Clearing and grassing. Used for picnics. It is proposed to further improve the road leading into the reserve. Rotokarb Domain (Ngaire). Section No. 1, Block XII, Ngaire Survey District. Area, 530 acres. This domain is under the control of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, New Plymouth. Work done during year : Fences erected, and repaired. Improvements now on domain: Boundaryfences and hut. Proposed operations for ensuing year: Erection of 21£ chains fencing on eastern boundary, and trimming overhanging trees. The area is practically all in native bush, and contains the Rotokare Lake. Rotokare Domain (Paritutu). Part of Native Reserve No. 2 (Arapepe), Block VIII, Paritutu Survey District. Area, 48 acres. Work done during year: Fences erected and repaired, and noxious weeds eradicated. Improvements now on domain : Fifty-five chains fences. Not use-d by the public. It is proposed to lease the area on improvement conditions. The domain is under the control of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, New Plymouth, and contains some native bush, a natural clearing, and a small lagoon. Stratford Domain. Sections Nos. 24 to 33, 36, 37, 38, 67 to 76, 79, 80, 81, 111 to 124, 150 to 163, 470 to 484, 509 to 518, 542 to 551, 574 to 581, 607 to 619, 639 to 651, 781, 858, 935, and 936, Town of Stratford, and Section No. 28, Block I, Ngaire Survey District. Area, 83 acres 1 rood 2 perches. Work done during year: Eighteen chains new fences erected, 1 acre planted with English trees, fences repaired, hedges trimmed, trees planted along western side of King Edward Park to replace those destroyed by fire, hockey and football grounds formed in Victoria Park North, and the football-ground in Victoria Park South ploughed, levelled, and laid down in grass. Improvements now on domain: Four miles and three-quarters fences, 11 acres plantations, grandstand, running and cycle track, football and hockey grounds, suspension bridge over Patea River, seats, paths, <tc. About 15 acres of the domain is in native bush. Used for football, cricket, hockey, picnics, and military and aquatic sports. Proposed operations for ensuing year: Tree-planting, fencing, and repairs to existing fences. During the year under review, a number of trees in King Edward Park were destroyed by a fire spreading from an adjoining property.
