Yes : Eastern Company has now an agent in South Island canvassing for business, and I understand he has been very successful in inducing merchants and others to divert messages to Eastern lines. Matter already brought under notice of Postmaster-General, who is cabling to Agent-General to place matter before Pacific Cable Board, with request to be informed whether any action is to be taken to prevent loss owing to methods adopted by Eastern Company.
