LAND FOR SETTLEMENTS ACT: RETURN RELATIVE TO ESTATES ACQUIRED IN SOUTHLAND.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the iiith July, 1903. Ordered, " That there be laid upon the table of this House a return showing (1) the number and area of the estates acquired in Southland under the Land for Settlements Aot; (2) the price paid for each, and the rate per acre; (3) the number of sections occupied and unocoupied, giving the name of the estate ; (4) the amount expended by the Government on the various estates in surveying, roading, &c.; (5) the revenue derived from each in the shape of rental ; and (6) the profit or loss, if any, made on each estate." —(Mr. J.
