NEW ZEALAND-SYDNEY CABLE. CESSATION OE GUAEANTEE.— SUBSTITUTION OF WOED-EATE. No. 1. The Sbceetaey, General Post Office, Wellington, to the Deputy Postmastee-Geneeal, Melbourne. (Telegram.) Wellington, 10th October, 1899. Kindly say what has been done re cable-subsidy agreement expiring end this month. Vide your letter 6th February [No. 4, F.-8, 1899].
No. 2. The Deputy Postmastee-Genebal, Melbourne, to the Seceetaey, General Post Office, Wellington. Post Office and Telegraph Department, General Post Office, Sib,— Melbourne, 18th October, 1899. Eeferring to your telegram of the 10th instant, I have the honour to state that nothing further has been done in regard to the cable-subsidy agreement. Beg to inform you that company gave formal notice on 23rd instant to Agent-General for South Australia, on behalf of all Australasian Colonies except Queensland, to terminate existing tariff agreement, both for Australian and New Zealand traffic, thirtieth April next.
