land by a chief of Mangaia, in the Cook Islands, I have the honour to inform you that my Ministers see no reason why the gift of a piece of land to Her Majesty by a chief—Daniela Tangitoru, of Mangaia—should not be accepted. I have therefore instructed the British Besident at Barotonga that Her Majesty accepts the gift, and expresses her high appreciation of the loyal spirit which has prompted the donor. I have, &c.
