(Further Cablegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies relative to the Visit of their Eoyal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York.) (No. 88.) Government House, Wellington, 30th September, 1900. Memorandum for the Eight Hon. the Peemiee. The Governor has received the following telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, dated 29th September : — " Eeferring to your telegram of 21st September, Her Majesty's Government are much gratified by message, and highly appreciate the suggestion of your Government that one of Her Majesty's Ministers should accompany their Eoyal Highnesses, but fear impossible to accept owing to political claims." Memoeandum for the Eight Hon. the Peemiee. The Deputy Governor has received the following telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, dated sth October : — " Their Eoyal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York hope that it may be possible for them to visit both Islands, but cannot at present indicate how long they will be able to remain in the colony." The Deputy Governor has received the following telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, dated sth October :— " Their Eoyal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales desire me to express their gratification at the general enthusiasm with which the announcement of the visit of their Eoyal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York has been received in New Zealand."
