Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 30th September, 1895. v Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing all expenditure in connection with the engagement of Mr. Valentine, the Dairy Expert: the return to include cost of all cablegrams with the AgentOeneral in reference to his engagement; cost of passages paid for Mr. Valentine and any member of his family to New Zealand, vid Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or other countries in Europe, Canada, United States, and Australia; expenses for telegrams, cablegrams, hotels, &c. ; salary between date of engagement and termination thereof; also showing separately the actual number of days he was engaged at work within the colony and in London on New Zealand Government business.—(Mr. Duthie.)

Actual number of days that he was engaged at work within the colony: Left London 14th October, 1893. and arrived in colony 12th January, 1894 ; working in colony 12th January to 12th June, 1894 : 152 days. 6. Actual number of days that he was engaged in London on New Zealand Government business : Left colony on the 12th June, and reported himself to the Agent-General on the 13th August, 1894 ; left service on the 31st October ; three months' leave expired on the 31st January, 1895 : Eighty days.
