I found two patients in this hospital on the date of my visit. The matron, Mrs. Wadman, who was at one time matron of the small asylum at Porirua, had everything in good order. I was sorry to hear that she had given notice of resignation, for private reasons. lam glad to see that the daily cost per head has fallen from 14s. 2|d. last year to 10s. IOJd. this year. The Chairman and committee, and, indeed, the whole district, take a very great interest in their hospital, and, as on all the goldfields, the patients are very generously treated.
