RAILWAY EMPLOYÉS: DETAILS OF PROMOTION, PAY, AND LENGTH OF SERVICE—JANUARY, 1889-1894.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 2nd August, 1894. Ordered, "That a return be obtained from the Railway Commissioners showing—(l) The names of all men promoted to be engine-drivers since January, 1889, to January, 1894; (2) the wages paid to those men ; (3) the length of service in the Railway Department of the men so promoted, showing ,the time served in each department separately ; (4) the names of all engine-drivers who have been promoted during the period above specified from one class to ariothefy with length of service in each class ; (5) the names of drivers and firemen who have not been promoted during the same period, with length of their service ; (6) the names of drivers and firemen who have been transferred from one district to another, with name of district from which they have been transferred, also position and pay, and the name of the district to which they have been transferred, also position and pay."—(Mr. Millae.)
