It has grown up around Dr. Douglas, who has been the soul of it from its beginning, in the palmy days of the goldfields. After living for many years in a small cottage, or, rather, hut, a spacious house has now been provided for him as part of a new hospital, of which only the male side has as yet been built. The Hospital is admirably conducted, and though the salary is high the doctor deserves it.
