Ross and Glendinning, Kaikorai Woollen mill ; wool - washing machine James Swanerton, aged 14 years The right hand crushed, 11th October, 1887 Not Was attending the washing-machine, and, while trying to remove wool from the bottom roller of squeez-ing-rollers, allowed his hand to get caught, tho consequence being that his hand was completely destroyed, No one is allowed to touch the rollers without first stopping the machine : that is the rule laid down. In this case it is supposed the boy thought he eould manage without stopping the machine— the consequence being the accident. Was attending a spinning - jenny, and, in clearing it, instead of passing round the other side, attempted to stoop over, when tho fly caught his coat, dragging him in. Luckily the extent of the accident was some bruises about the body without any broken bones. The boy was at work again about a week after. dcssrs.
