Audit Office, 9th June, 1887. The Controller- and Auditor-General has the honour to lay before the House of Eepresentatives the return of the securities in the safe on the several days on which the certificates show that they have been examined. The Controller- and Auditor-General regrets that, owing to the heavy press of work thrown on the Audit Office by the audit of the Municipal Corporations and Harbour Boards accounts, he lias been unable to make this return within the time directed by the Public Revenues Act; and that for the same cause the return of the debentures of local bodies under the Eoads and Bridges Construction Act has not yet been completed, James Edwabd FitzGebald, Controller- and Auditor-General.
