EXPENDITURE ON OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY (RETURN OF) FROM 1878 TO 1883.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 23rd June, ISB6. Ordered, " That thoro be laid upon the table a return showing the expenditure on the Otago Central Railway in the years 1878 to 1883, both inclusive, during which period £142,935 was expended, irrespective of survey charges, whilst the only contract existing during that period was one for £48,889, showing a difference of £94,090 not accounted for.'*—(Mb. Deducting this amount from the total shown —£160,200 —leaves £142,037, which no doubt represents the figures referred to in the motion.
