Table IX. —University Endowment Reserves set apart by Act for "promoting Higher Education in the respective Provinces in which such Reserves are situated, in such manner as the General Assembly may from time to time determine."

Note. —The net rental received to 31st March, 1885, on account of these reserves is as follows : Auckland, £75 > Westland, £56 12s. 6d.; Canterbury, £671 Is. 4d. : total, £802 13s. lOd. This money, as directed by the Act, is placed to the credit of the Colonial University Account; its disposal must await the direction of the General Assembly. The 700 acres in the Waikato (Taupiri) Reserve have been leased for coal-mining purposes.
