That the Government should communicate with the Senate of the New Zealand University, and the Councils of the Otago University and of Canterbury College, and endeavour to make such arrangements as may be found practicable for the establishment of lectureships, to bo held by Professors of Mineralogy or Science, who shall deliver a course of lectures at least twice a year in the populated mining districts in the colony, the various districts to be taken in rotation. That it would be very desirable that the Minister of Mines should only hold such other offices as would enable him to give undivided attention to the necessities and requirements of the mining districts. The Committee make these recommendations in full confidence that the Government will give due consideration and effect to them, as being the carefully-considered opinions of members representing the various mining districts of the colony R.
