Sheep Inspector's Office, Wellington. Sib, —I have the honor to forward my report for the year ended 31st December, 1878. The number of sheep in the "Wellington Subdivision on. Ist January, 1878, amounted to 118,5(59 over six months old. The assessment at -J-d. each amounts to £247 Os. 4-i-d., being an increase over last year of 6,805 sheep, and assessment of £14 3s. G|d. There is still the sum of £2 7s. Gd. owing on this return by Natives residing on the West Coast of the district. In the early part of last year there were three flocks infected with scab ; but I am pleased to report now that the flocks are all clean, and the subdivision is perfectly free from scab.
