No. 30. Copy of a DESPATCH from Governor the Most Hon. the Marquis of Normanby to the Eight Hon. the Earl of Carnarvon. (No. 9.) Government House, Auckland, My Lord, — New Zealand, 11th March, 1876. I ha^e the honor to inform your Lordship that I have this day, hy the advice of my Government, appointed Mr. William Swainson a Member of the Executive Council, without office. 2. Mr. Swainson was formerly for some years connected with the government of this colony, and now holds a pension; and it has been usual to appoint him to a seat in the Executive, as it facilitates the formation of a quorum during the residence of the Governor in Auckland.
