Return to an Order of the House of Representatives of the 20th day of July, 1876. " That there be laid before this House a return showing what salaried officers of the General Government, receiving salaries in excess of £200 a year, are permitted to receive remuneration for services outside of their service to tho General Government."—(__f>. By the terms of his engagement, permitted to undertake such private work as the Hon. the Minister for Public Works may consent to, and provided it does not interfere with his official duties. These officers have, at the request of provincial and municipal authorities, been permitted to give their advice on provincial and municipal matters. By terms of his engagement, permitted to act as Consulting Engineer, provided his doing so does not interfere with his official duties. Is permitted to prepare plans, &c, for a local branch line of railway. By terms of his engagement, permitted to take private business, provided his doing so does not interfere with his official duties. Is one of the local trustees of the Trust and Agency Company of Australia (Limited). Average receipts from this source for the last seven years, £15 15s. a year.
