With reference to your letter of the sth instant, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Cardwell to acquaint you, for the information of Earl Granville, that Major-General Sir Trevor Chute has been instructed by H.R.H. the Eield-Marshal Commanding in Chief to allow Captain Young, 2nd Battalion 18th Regiment of Eoot, to continue in the post of Acting Military Secretary to the Governor of New Zealand, during the continuance of Avarlike operations in the Colony, notwithstanding the withdraAval of his regiment therefrom.
