The petition and affidavit of Mr. de Hirsch were produced. Mr. E. A. "Whitaker made a statement. Mr. Creighton moved, by way of resolution, That this Committee declines to make any recommendation on the Petition of James de Hirsch, of Auckland. Agreed to. Mr. Creighton moved, That the Chairman be requested to report accordingly. Agreed to. Mr. Clark moved, That the evidence and statements taken before this Committee, and the Joint Committee, with the documents produced, and also the evidence referred from the Public Petitions Committee to this Committee, together with the documents, be printed, and appended to the evidence taken before the Native Lands Bill Committee. Agreed to. The following Report was agreed to : — " The Committee have the honor to report that they decline to make any recommendation on the Petition of the said James de Hirsch." The Committee then adjourned. 7th September, 1869.
