They at present garrison posts in the Waikato, Tauranga, and Opotiki Districts. b These (with the exception of a few on Regimental Staff employ) belong to the 3rd Regiment, have lately returned from Commissariat Transport Corps, and are awaiting land now being surveyed for them in the neighbourhood of Rangiriri. e. These men were struck off pay at the end of May, and are to be located at Patea. d These men were promised laud for special services; one Company is located at Waitara, the other is to have land at Patea. e Friendly Natives under European Officers, enrolled for the fiui-pose of holding the country nortl of Waitara; they received Is. a day until they could grow crops. f First month of location. g Temporarily increased for special service on the East Coast nnd at Wanganui. The men enrollei for these purposes are not entitled to land. h Includes five boys. i About 160 of these men are to be located at the Patea, but are retained on pay to garrison thi post at White Cliffs, and to hold certain blockhouses; until land is surveyed for them.
