F.—No. 16.
Youit Committee have the honor to report, that having carefully considered the papers laid before it relative to the claims of the AVaikato Military Settlers to be allowed a continuance of their pay to the sth of December last, and rations for twelve months from that date; and believing the Petitioners were not precluded by orders from the authorities from actually occupying their lands, of which possession had been given to them, is of opinion that the claim in question is not one which is borne out either by a reasonable interpretation of the engagement under which they Berved, or by considerations of justice or equity ; and the Committee see no reason for giving the claimants any further facilities than those they already possess for bringing their case before a legal tribunal. 25th July, 1860. T. M. HAULTArtf, Chairman.
