FURTHER PAPERS RELATIVE TO DISALLOWANCE OF PROVINCIAL BILLS. THE SUPERINTENDENT, CANTERBURT, TO TIIF. COLONIAL SECRETARY. (No. 320.) Superintendent's Office, Christchurch, 11th June, 1862. Sir,— I have the honor, in accordance with the request contained in your letter of the 23rd May, No. 503, to furnish you with the following information, regarding the specific objects of the Lyttelton Municipal Reserves Ordinance, Session 17, No. 10. These lands are sought to be conveyed to the Superintendent, in accordance with the " Public Beserves Act of 1854." The objects for obtaining these grants are:— The conferring upon the Municipality of Lyttelton, facilities for giving easements to the town, and that they may be held in perpetual trust by the Corporation for the use of the town, the Corporation by bill of the Provincial Council to be restricted from alienating these lands by lease or otherwise beyond a certain term of years to be determined by the Provincial Council.
