Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Wednesday, the 7th Day of July, 1948 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of nine members, to consider all matters in connection with defence which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. Fortune, Mr. R. Macdonald, Mr. T. L. Macdonald, Mr. Macfarlane, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roy, Mr. Sim, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Jones.) Friday, the 20th Day oe August, 1948 Ordered, " That the name of Mr. Roy be discharged from the Defence Committee and that of Mr Harker substituted therefor."—(Hon. Mr. Jones.)
REPORTS No. 17—Petition of D. H. Lea Praying for compensation in lieu of a war pension, and other relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. 13th October, 1948.
No. 45—Petition of Marguerite A. McKain Praying for the grant of a war widow's pension in her favour. I have the honour to report that the Committee has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. 13th October, 1948.
No. 3—Petition of T. H. King Paying for an increase in his war pension. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. The Committee is of the opinion, however, that if the petitioner's position becomes progressively worse, he should make use of the machinery available in connection with the War Pensions Appeal Board.
