Since 1930, when the Hamilton North branch of the bank was opened, Mr Baker had been manager there. Mr F. J. Farrell, who presided, referred to Mr Baker’s sterling qualities in business and public life and expressed regret that he was leaving Hamilton. Other speakers included Messrs S. Dabb, W. S. Morrison, M. B. Peat, R. R. Paterson, W. J. King, S. G. Hale, W. V. St. George and N. G. Sutherland (Mr Baker’s successor). Mr Baker was presented with a wristlet watch. The previous day Mr Baker was farewelled by the staff of the bank, who presented him with an engraved fountain pen.
