HIGHER DAIRY OUTPUT
CAMBRIDGE PAYMENTS Not for 21 years have the Cambridge Dairy Company’s pay-outs for both cheese and butter been as high as they will be this season. The company will make final payments that will bring the total pay-outs for cheese up to 22.513 d per lb butterfat, compared with 19.893 d the previous season, while for butter the pay-out will be the high figure of 20.124 d per lb butter-fat, compared with 18.019 d last season.
It is emphasised that these are the actual totals that suppliers will receive, provision having been made for cartage costs and all other charges. At the annual meeting shortly the company will 'distribute by way of bonus £68,000 on the basis of 3.522 d per lb butterfat for cheese and 2.837 d for butter supply. BRUNTWOOD PAYMENTS The season-average pay-out this season for the Bruntwood Co-opera-tive Dairy Co., Ltd. amounts to 19.826 d per lb. butterfat. When the farm cost allowance of 2.887 dis added the total is 22.711 d compared with a total of 20.172 d last year. Taxation Exemption
No support was forthcoming at a meeting of the Matamata County Council yesterday for the Morrinsville Borough Council’s suggestion that there should be at least partial exemption of ex-servicemen from taxation. It was stated at the meeting yesterday that the R.S.A. held similar views to the county council, being of opinion that the scheme would be unworkable in its details.
