Kaipaki Victory Dance There was a crowded hall on Saturday last when the Kaipaki Hall Committee and the Social Committee organised a dance and card evening to celebrate the cessation of hostilities in Europe. Dance music was supplied by the Garmonsway Band, and a spirit of happiness pervaded the whole evening. Special dances were won by Mr J. Read and Miss T. Bell, Mr and Mrs Steel, and Miss M. Woolfe and Master L. Kivell. Card prizes were won by Mr Knudsen and Mrs J. Graham. Supper was served by the ladies of the two committees.

Architecture Popular with Girls “Girls do not enter the Faculty of Architecture because of their interest in home planning alone,” Professor Hook, Associate Professor of Architecture at Sydney University, said recently. “If we are shown a plan of a kitchen without a sink, it is certain to have been done by a girl.” He was commenting on the high proportion of girl students in the faculty. Because the Faculty of Architecture was unreserved, a large number of male students were with the services, Professor Hook said. Two years ago it looked as if the faculty would become a “young ladies’ seminary,” but this year new male students outnumbered females by one. __
